Rades C-450MW Combined Cycle Power plant
The Radès C project involves the construction of a 450MW combined cycle power plant, financed up to 340 million USD in the form of a loan by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in an Official Development Assistance (ODA) framework. ECAS provides its support services to the EPC contractor, Sumitomo Corporation, and to Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHSP), technology supplier. The power plant is being constructed on a 13.3-acre Government-owned land, which also locates the STEG-owned 340MW Radès A and 360MW Radès B thermal power plants. Radès A and Radès B plants have been operational since 1985 and 1998 respectively.
The power plant comprises an MHPS F-class M701F gas turbine, a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) and a steam turbine. The entire transmission infrastructure for Radès C plant including the switchyard and transmission lines are being built as part of a separate project financed by European Investment Bank (EIB).
